Relief Society Christmas Party

I am the new Relief Society Enrichment Night leader in my ward. I was put in to this a mere two weeks before the annual Christmas party. I surely had a lot of help though and am so thankful to all of the sisters who stepped in! In our ward we have a tradition of some of the sisters setting up a table. It is so fun to see the different table settings the gals come up with. So beautiful in their own ways, I tried to get pictures, but it was after we had already eaten. I am happy to announce everything went wonderful. We planned on 100 and had a turn out of only 60 which was better than not having enough food... We had the yummiest pasta (chicken alfredo), salad (it had poppy seed dressing, pomegranites, cranberries, and sugared almonds), breadsticks from Fazoli's, and for dessert we had mini cheese cakes, cream puffs and Eclairs. We had a wonderful program by Amy Shreive (a loval singer who sounded like The Little Mermaid). I made the hand outs, which were so sweet and reminded everyone of the true meaning of Christmas. They were a little nail with some wire and a red bow. The poem with them is as follows:

It’s Christmas time at our house
and we are putting up the tree.
I wish I could find one simple way
to remember Christ’s gift to me.

Some little sign or symbol
to show friends stopping by.
The little babe was born one day
but really came to die.

Some symbol of his nail pierced hands
the blood He shed for you and me…
What if I hung a simple nail
upon my Christmas tree?

A crimson bow tied around the nail
as His blood flowed down so free
to save each person from their sin
and redeem us for all eternity.

I know it was His love for us
that held Him to that tree
but where I see this simple nail
I know He died for me.

So all in all things went very well!

Cute Amy, those stars ussed for the decorations were used at my wedding. I love them. What a fun Christmas party.
