Spot the Tot Note...

I have recently been more aware of the program Spot the Tot. For those of you who don't know what this is, it is a program to make drivers and parents more aware of children when it comes to motor vehicles. It is very scary for me because Bingham is at the age where he doesn't understand that a car could hurt or even kill him. He loves cars and just wants to run in the street as soon as we go outside. I have to be extrememly careful, i don't know what I'd do if he were to be hit by a car. I am going to post a few tips to help everyone out there be aware of our children. Even if you don't have children, you could ly hit a child. Bingham rides up and down the sidewalk and someone could easily back out over him. We also don't have any barrier between our driveway and our neighbors, which scares me to . I could see one of them get in their car and not even realize what that Bingham is out there. I have made a vow to share my concerns with my neighbors on both sides. I think these tips will help us all and maybe save some lives!
Take a 5-sec walk around your car before you get in. (even if you don't have kids)
Firmly hold the hands of your children when in driveways, parking lots or sidewalks.
Roll down your window so you'll able to hear what is happening outside your car.

Each year in UT an average of 65 children under the age of 10 are struck or run over and 5 are killed by a motor vehicle on private property. Most vehicles are traveling slowly many in reverse.
